Here is the island

Where fishermen gather

With outboards and ready-alls

And fall fishing gear

There's Baldy and Stebe

Don't forget little Ebbe

They've come out preparing to fish at Black Bear

From Hudson and the river

They come drinking and jigging

Even John James Japan has been getting his share

And there's Two Day Bob

Two days late for the job

But they'll all sober up on the lake at Black Bear

Norman's tying his nets on

With corks, leads, and buoys

He'll go off to set them

Just as soon as he dare

The inspector will chase

But he won't win the race

Norman's two 45's on his skiff at Black Bear

And old Stellan V

He's the boss on the island

He's hollerin' and yellin'

For all men to hear

And again with each shout

There's another skiff out

Ah the season has started once more at Black Bear

Says old Ole ??

"There's fish in the channel!

Just follow me boy-eh

You'll get all that you care."

But the ol' ?? forgets

And he can't find his nets

But still he goes fishing each fall at Black Bear

"God bless my sou'wester,"

Lloyd Yolnson is smiling

He's come in with a catch

That will half-fill this pier

There's pickerel and pike

And tullibees, if you like

And they're all packed by Gislette at the station Black Bear

The lake may grow rough

As the nights they grow longer

The fish line will freeze

On the mitts that they wear

No it isn't for sport

That they fish at this port

But they don't give a damn for the cold at Black Bear

The season grows shorter

And the big lifts are fewer

They're longing for home it is getting quite clear

But comes one more season

They won't need a reason

To pack up their duds, just to fish at Black Bear
