The journey to becoming a famous rapper happened so fast that sometimes purpp has to ask himself what’s going on because he never imagined this would happen (as he has said in multiple interview, such as the no jumper one).
Purpp is mourning the drug-related death of his brother Max, who died on April 29, 2013. Four years later Purpp dedicated a Periscope stream to him.
As revealed by Purpp during a Periscope live stream on April 29, 2017, Max was his older brother. Max tragically passed away due to a heroin overdose approximately four years before the release of Deadstar. Purpp’s wailing on the song’s intro conveys the immense pain he felt in reliving the memories of Max’s death.
