[Intro/Bridge]

Overdone is for me

It's for the long nights fixing bass and tweaking the keys

It's for the reddit posts and iPhone notes tuning out class

It's for the beats with under 10 plays after busting my ass

And for the experimental summers, money I should've saved

Smoking, rocking Capiché, it's for the phases I embraced

It's for the self doubt following my favorite jam

It's celebrating me learning to love who I am

[Hook]

And what I'm into, maybe it's not for you

May take advantage of a naysayer one time

It's what I'm into, maybe it's just not for you

Take advantage of a naysayer one time

[Verse 1]

Amalgamations of unfinished screen plays

Thought I was living Longview, motivation fades

Back in the days calling my friend out of class

In high school come to the band room to record raps

Bad mixing but good memories

Embarrassment flooding me, it's all I perceived

This for the great times that I didn't let last

And the inconclusive self reflections come just to pass

But now I'm searching with success and a headlamp strapped tight

One path, coming from me, no other light

Bright, beaming down a tunnel neverending

The fears are always blending, swirling, shapeshifting

But if I got into this hole then I can get out

Without clout, money, numbers, recognition or doubt

People always look everywhere but up

So now I'm clawing at the ceiling, waiting for the thing to bust

To swim through the aqueduct, day planner under arm

Laptop in the bag but it's not being harmed

I can do it

Eventually you'll pop up out a manhole

Renivigorated, ready dude? Stand tall

Call out to anybody still doubting

And shove in their face the defiance love and power

Loving how you are is intimidating, believe you me

Looking like a dork filtered through sensibility

Sensitivity is not a weakness it's a periscope

Optics above tryna avoid ego tropes it's a trip

Finally if no label can hold you

Just hold yourself and use the one that none can hold a candle to

You

[Hook]

It's what I'm into, maybe it's not for you

Take advantage of a naysayer one time

It's what I'm into, maybe it's just not for you

I'll take advantage of the naysayers forever

[Verse 2]

Rapping sent my mind in many directions like the Konami code

When am I finished? Shit, how can i know?

I could talk about this for hours shit somebody needs to interview me

Tell em how I dont care if it's a phase cause it makes me happy

How I didn't have a reason to continue this except for me

And all for free - well, I sold one beat minus the website fee

Im selfish. This the culmination of my progress

High school mixtapes I scrapped but now I'm reset

Distracting me from classes, I'm sorry to my professors

But hopefully this will be worth it for me it's been worth the effort

And the time, combing verses line by line in the bathroom stall

Dead sprinting at a wall then hit the last second pole vault

Even if it this doesn't mean shit to anyone else

It means a lot to me and I need that right now

(Outro)

If my family is listening, this whole thing may come as a bit of a shock. But know that I love this, and it's something I feel I'm genuinely good at. Rap music is a creative outlet like no other because you can be anybody you want. I'm not Bryce, I'm SMITH, the B is just behind me. In rap, words can simultaneously mean everything and nothing. I know I'm not living the lifestyle I rap about - I'm not toting guns, popping bottles and climbing the charts. But rapping about that beats struggling with anxiety and self esteem. It beats the constant stream of reassurance from social media that the world is slowly dying and we're killing it, the American justice and education systems are complete jokes, and that I'm way far behind all of my peers and all their accomplishments. Rap is a simple solace, and I love it

So in short...

Sorry, not sorry
