Anything With Wings

By Small Creeks

Take the rose out of the glass

This is a castle suspended in air

River of a thousand voices

Calling out from everywhere

I try to be lightfast lightfast lightfast

My tide still pulled by the moon

How the ground

Just comes to you

Once burned at the center

Trying to dig all the way through

An ever changing single frame

Blind to the whole of the film

And its ending

Searching for anything with wings

To lift me up and away

Far as love can take me

I know now no one can

Ever really save mе

Oh how love

Drops to forsake me

Holds to еmbrace me

Endlessly

Back and forth

Somehow the scar turns to the bandage

Deadwood that we carry holds damage

That's apparent once we manage to let go

Feel my center somewhere in that passing afternoon

Sometimes time goes on without me

But I'll catch up soon

An ever changing single frame

Blind to the whole of the film

And its ending

Searching for anything with wings

To lift me up and away

Far as love can take me

I know now no one can

Ever really save me

Oh how love

Drops and forsakes me

Holds to embrace me

Endlessly

Back and forth
