Iridescent marble
Unpolished stone
I’ve got some stories
That will chill you to the bone
I trap the winter
And suck on the cold
Never thought I’d see the day
The moss began to mold
Opulence is over
Devoid of all beings
And all that I can hear is the elephant seals sing and they go…
“Everything you build on the shore will be swallowed”
She was born with a silver spoon
Golden rattle caught the light of the moon
Grandpa was a literary tycoon
But none of that matters when you’re locked in a steel cage
But I don’t mean to get ahead myself
It all started with some books on the shelf
The ones that she read and the ones she rejected
Learned life’s not as fair as she once had suspected (so she left)
Where is my princess?
Will I ever know why?
And all that I can hear is the elephant seals cry and they go…
“Anyone you trap in a tower will betray you”
“Everything you build on the shore will be swallowed”
Newspaper 1974
Revolutionaries came and knocked down her door
They held her captive while she slept on the floor
But none of that matters when you’re questioning your ethics
And then came 1975
It turned out she was well and alive
Semi-automatic strapped to her thigh
She said “up against the wall”
She was working for the other side
And “you motherfuckers, you don’t know anything
But me, I can’t forget the way the elephant seals scream” and they go…
“Better be careful what you toss in the wishing well”
“Anyone you trap in a tower will betray you”
“Everything you build on the shore will be swallowed”
