[A Section, Verse 1]

The sun has risen, and I feel refreshed

I'm glad I’ve awoken to the spot where I slept

And my stuff is still there, so I guess I'm still set

I'm glad there’s not much to complain about, except that I'm now wet

I see markings in the dirt everywhere that I step:

Something about some sort of prism in the sky, I would bet

That they mean a bunch of raindrops aimed towards them

Likewise, they assign a spirit, they have an equivalent

[A Section, Verse 2]

Of a lordlike figure who controls the weather

I don't see the reasoning behind beliefs like that, but I'd better

Shut up before they hear me, 'cause then them and all their brethren

Won't hesitate to take me down if I write with the wrong feather

I'd prefer to be their ally, but they make the rules whether

Or not I agree with them, but the one thing we agree together on

Is no one here—including me—wants to become tethered;

I'd be waiting for the day that the rope becomes severed

[A Section, Verse 3]

So I’m glad I’m not confronting them, 'cause I don’t wanna battle

Last time I tried to do that, I surely learned my lesson

In 2024, I fought a creature in the wild;

It was on the same day I took a break from my parents

I tried to drive a moose away with aggressive sounds

But me and my dog weren't enough to scare it off

The sun was setting, so more creatures would come out

And nobody wants that, so we decided to quaff our pride

[A Section, Chorus]

It's now and here that I sit, breaking the daylight

I know the start was rough, but now I'll be okay, right?

If I wanna make it to the next big wayside

I’d better be leaving soon so I can avoid the gray night

It's now and here that I walk, passing the day by;

I'm thrilled that I can do that and talk at the same time

And still not run out of breath. I ride the wave high...

Whatever's coming next, I've got to be brave like...

[B Section, Refrain]

Like the bones in the wall of the cave

I will wait, I will wait for you the rest of the day

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

[B Section, Verse 4]

We could be the ones whose spirits they break

Or we could be the duo who'd be making names

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

For ourselves and the plans that we have to escape

We'd run fast as our hearts when the action escalates

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

It seems running and surviving is the only way

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

That we could possibly think of getting out of this place

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

We'll hear thunder, see lightning, 'cause the weather wants to take

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

Our souls to the clouds that precipitate

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

[B Section, Verse 5]

Many obstacles, many biomes. Too bad we can't skip them and fly home

I'm your friend, I won't let you die on the journey, I may sacrifice

Myself just to keep the promise; I'm a man of my word, so you know I'm honest

I'll dig a tunnel if I need to, even if I'm down on my hands and knees; to

Man-make a way will make her mad, but I'll shove them away if that's what it takes

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

I'll leave mother nature and whoever the dad is; I'm sure they will try to raise the stakes

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

I'll hold the bar down super low for a moment just so we can jump across

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

I hate that I may have to go against myself to help us run across

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-)

[B Section, Chorus]

Like the stones that illuminate

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

I will light up the path to lead you the way

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

Like the rope that's been ripped up and frayed

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

I will guard you from falling as always

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

Like the homing poles the creatures have made

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

I will show the destination from miles away

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

Like the bones in the wall of the cave

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

I will wait. I will wait for you the rest of the day

(Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)

[A Section, Outro]

(...like what?)

Oh, don't worry my friend! We'll get to that in the next song
