Waking to a lonely world

Maybe I’m a lonely girl

Mom and dad have gone away

And they’re not back today …

Searching as the hours pass

I stare into shattered glass

I just had the strangest dream

My world split at the seams …

Wide awake or half asleep

It’s hard to tell with certainty

Pictoral aura of mystique

Is now within my hand’s own reach

Though mom and dad have gone away

I’d beg to see them one more day

Though memories are awfully sweet

I’d rot away with idle feet

Memories are lost inside

A chasm of my own design

My writing from a prior life

Should bring me back the memories

Of every word in every line

And lead me back with all their signs

A picture with my parents’ eyes

Will surely bring a tear to mine …

Waking to a lonely world

Maybe I’m a lonely girl

As I went to hunt my prey

I spot it by the lake …

Startled by a lonely girl

Crying all alone and curled

Asking for her sister

So we walked around to find her …

Never know what lies beneath

Am I to just remain unseen?

A beastly girl, a sword unsheathed

I know that’s what they think of me

I wish to travel far away

Though I’m restrained by balls and chains

Though memories are awfully sweet

I wonder now, why did he leave?

Broken shards are what precede me

Or were they just what succeed me?

Either way, I leave unscathed

Is what I’d like to say …

Words I’ve never read before

From journal pages on the floor

Encounter a reminder that

It’s not just like before …

Searching in an empty chasm

Broken shards remind me of him

(Broken shards remind me of them)

Lines will lead me back

(Signs will show me now)

To when he left without a word

(Where both my parents might have gone)

Memories come back to me

And nothing was quite as it seemed

Though back to who I was before

I’m sure that now I will endure

Never know why I believed

That everything was as it seemed

We’re stronger than we could’ve seen

Our feet no longer idling

Every word in every line

Would lead to you with all the signs

A picture with my parents’ eyes

Gives me the hope that soon we’ll find them

All inside this hollow forrest

Or in worlds beyond our own

It’s time for us to take the leap

And break out of this daydream
