Well Mr. Alligator he was a mighty mean man

He'd slap his own kids with the back of his hand

And one day when his truck it died

He lost his mind

Shot a hole in the engine

Broke down and cried

It was quite a commotion back in the neighborhood

The kids were picking up sticks they were picking up wood

Then sang a canary in the yard they heard

Mr. Alligator walked on the scene glowing with the word

Like Moses

Now

Mr. Crocodile he'll cry with a smile

He pays his taxes too and he don't frown

His wife is the law and he loves his television

He'd love his kids too but he sent them all to prison

Now

What can make of such a foolish song of words

I sing of reptiles but I'd rather sing like birds

But a man on my left and a woman on my right

Won't let me sleep in bed cause they fight all night

In my head

Well Mr. Alligator he was a mighty mean man
