Nothing Wrong
By Scarlette Hellene
My mom saw me, asked me if I'm okay
My words were comforting lies to put her at bay
I told her that there's nothing wrong with me
I told her that I'm okay as can be
But I'm not gonna lie, depression weighs down on me
And my anxiety gets the best of me
I think I'm trying to stay strong today
I think I'm keeping darkness away
I guess I'm a heartbreaker, so fuck it
I guess I'll take the blame and go ahead with it
I'm a name taker, forgive but never forget, troublemaker
Relive my mistakes because I am upset
I used to spark a blunt to try to forget
My vice, crux — that's something I regret
I love being high, drunk, simple, that's it
But there's more to life — that's simply not it
Anger and emotion put on display
All these skies turning to grey
But my demons wanna come out to play
This is not third time, not if I have a say
But I'm not gonna lie, depression weighs down on me
And my anxiety gets the best of me
I think I'm trying to stay strong today
I think I'm keeping darkness away
