I'll undercut emotion with the taste of week-old wine

It lingers on my lips like you linger on my mind

I'll undermine my own fears, even to my self

Sympathy belongs to those who can care about more than just themselves

If I am annoying, and if I am unkind

Know that I don't mean it and I'm trying hard to try

If I am annoying, if I'm not okay

Know that you are not obliged to ever have to stay

I'll undermine the consequence of tearing myself down

If victory is apathy, I will wear the crown

I'll overplay the final scene and watch you walk away

A day will come when I smile, but that is not today

I know I am annoying, I know I can be cruel

You'll be glad to know that when I go, you will forget it all

I know that I don't mean it, I know that I am trying

But what use are semantics when the sun is set on dying
