I Will Wait

Vase of white tulips on the windowsill

Sixty feet above the ground, they're blooming still

The first petal falls a distance to grates at my feet

Seven hours later and the vase is empty

Outside the window the sun is setting

Streetlamps click on, all but one down beneath

Oh, and I

I will wait

Till I can't

Can't wait any longer

Unwashed dishes in the kitchen sink

The faucet is dripping, the walls were once green

But the grease from the stove has long since painted them grey

Oh, and I

I will wait

Till I can't

Can't wait any longer

Cold radiator, it's the end of winter

Open up the windows, let the air come in here

Pick up the broom and push the dust away

Oh, and I

I will wait

Till I can't

Can't wait any longer

Oh, and I

I will wait

Till I can't

Can't wait any longer

Can't wait any longer

Can't wait any longer

Can't wait any longer

Can't wait any longer
