Devastation

Over sterile sands and fields

Through deserted towns

On wet roads

Over lands and borders

Under autumn skies

Fresh blood on my hands and arms

And you struck blind

I'm too lame to go for the throat

My strength lies in all that remains behind

But the devastation here is all in the mind

When our brightest colors have faded

None of this shall count

And when convulsions come to rest

I lean back onto all that remains behind

But the devastation here is all in the mind
