Blood & Thunder

Warning bells were beeping

The night when Big Ben went digital

The bus roof was leaking

He lost control in the drivers seat

Oh a Piccadilly Circus sign

Blinking neon in her eyes

But the leaflets in her arms read

‘In the moment, what will you decide?’

Are u gonna be calling out my name

In the blood and thunder?

Cos poetry in the morning

Is too late

Cos the next door neighbours floating belly up

While the loan sharks circling an easy lunch

The fat cat can’t be fucked with anyone

He’s frying up bigger fish

And down in Covent Garden

Buskers and ballerinas

Reflect on the surface

Of puddles between us

Ohh its coming down the walls into Nana's teacups

Go on and add a drop of milk

And a couple of sweeteners

Are you gonna be calling out my name

In the blood and thunder?

Cos poetry in the morning

Is too late

Cos the next door neighbours floating belly up

While the loan sharks circling an easy lunch

The fat cat can’t be fucked with anyone

He’s frying up bigger fish

On the corner waiting for a bus

Or a revelation from above

In the end, none of them showed up

So I turned towards the underground

And baby there’s a big red button

On the fourth plinth of Trafalgar Square

So maybe it’ll happen there

And the flood flashed early in the afternoon

They’re screaming ‘why won’t somebody save us?’

But the boat was rocking

When they went in two-by-two

Cos the next door neighbours floating belly up

On the corner waiting for a bus

Or a revelation from above

In the end, none of them showed up

So I turned towards the underground

And yeah the tide can pull a man away

But a ripple can become a wave

And everybody knows its gonna rain

So we can make a splash or two

Yeah you

(Yeah you)

You choose

You choose
