from a distance

Got it together on the weekdays

Nine to five, I keep my mind in place

I don’t lose it til it’s Saturday and I’m three drinks deep in our spot

Clock’s ticking louder and it says your name

We turned around and look what we became

I didn’t lose it til I had to face this space without your heart

Do you still think about what I do

Tell me did we ever decide who

Was wrong, was right or if we just knew

We’d break before we saw it all through

But I’m afraid of us and sleeping in the dark

And I’m afraid to change and forget where we are

And I’m scared to face who’s comin next

Or reach across this empty bed you left

So I’ll learn to love you from a distance

I heard you’re back home on the weekends

Working it out with your childhood friends

No I never got to meet them

Cause you pushed them away too

If you were looking at me right now

Glued to my phone down on my basement couch

Then you would probably wanna let me go

So you don’t feel half as bad

Do you still think about what I do

Tell me did we ever decide who

Was in the wrong if we just knew

We’d break before we saw it all through

But I’m afraid of us and sleeping in the dark

And I’m afraid to change and forget where we are

And I’m scared to face who’s comin next

Or reach across this empty bed you left

So I’ll learn to love you from a distance

Oh woah oh

You left me, I envy

The way we’re just for, “show”

You cut my heartstrings

With a knife babe

Every time you picture us

Tell me what set you off

I’m strung out honey

But I know you’re untouched

And I’m left poisoned by your love & your lust

But I’m afraid of us and sleeping in the dark

And I’m afraid to change and forget where we are

And I’m scared to face who’s comin' next

They can't compete with how I longed for you

Cause I've always loved you from a distance
