There's that ringing - it's time to face the day
Alarm clock singing - it's time to pay my way
I am just a number - nothing but a wage
And every day I wake up - nothing seems to change
Punch in, punch out, life's a monotonous roundabout
Tax this, tax that, keep their corporate wallets fat
Sell yourself off for that wage
Just to finance your own grave
My blood - worth nothing
My sweat - worth nothing
My time - worth nothing
My life - worth nothing
So how did we end up here?
Mindless machines controlled by fear
We're waiting for that cheque to cash
Or for the system to collapse
I have contempt for the suit and tie
I have hatred for the 9 to 5
I am struggling just to make a dime
I am sick and tired of always asking why I never have the fucking time
Will I ever be more than a rental?
Will I ever be anything at all?
