Long-Term Memory Loss

On Can I Be Okay Now?

I draw a line in the sand with a stick like a pen in my hand

It helps me to know where I’ve been but only where so never when

I go back in time, following that little line to find

That I can’t seem to remember my past, so I wait until it’s glass

Woah

Because the tide can’t wash my memories

It’ll only take them someplace far away

To a shoreline for someone to draw

A line of their life someday

The waves still come and go, it’s a fact that everyone knows

I jump into the crashing water and let the ocean breeze blow

And when I wake up again, I’m somewhere I’ve not been before

The building I stood in was not to my liking so I walked outside the door

The cold weather can be such a drag

But the same wind that chills me to the bone is the one that sails my bags

And I know I’ve changed

But the lure of nostalgia keeps trying to pick at my brain

Woah

Because the tide can’t wash my memories

It’ll only take them someplace far away

To a shoreline for someone to draw

A line of their life someday
