The purpose of what is seen

Is sacred art, then the punishing

To trade beauty for discontent:

Deliverance for those that sin

I am grateful for the time

Now my act to shine for what I deserved

I’m reaching out again

Just try to push me back in

Doesn’t it sting to touch?

Doesn’t the soul harden as you watch?

I never believed you

But maybe I’m better off alone

I am old now, and tough to swallow

Down, but I can’t say I miss my old self

It’s all a part of what you try to sell

Innocence: the hell that is this

Of all the things you’ve said and done

I believed the words

Then became the worse

And who’s to blame?

See how the make has changed?

Can I even call this life?

I’m reaching out again

Just try to push me back in

Doesn’t it sting to touch?

Doesn’t the soul harden as you watch?

I never believed you

But maybe I’m better off alone

I am old now, and tough to swallow

Down, but I can’t say I miss my old self
