Here in the wired life I search for my mark

A voice on the internet, a lonely lost spark

When all who surround me send "smilies" or "trees!"

And friends become icons, memories for me

And I search for what I was

But we don't know what we were

And though I kept a formal log

I just still can't find the backup

Searching for what is true....

.... and what it means to me!

A message from school-days

Passed down through time

An older grey shape looms

Through these windows of mine

A new cache of memories

Knocks at my door

Which I'm afraid to open

It's like The Monkey's Claw!

I remember who they were

But they just don't seem to fit

And though I try to find a place

I just still can't find the backup

Help me store the time!

Help me write the line

Let me put my thoughts and feelings into ether!

Try to write the file

Try to clear the pile

Make a backup of all that matters!
