“EBT” literally tanslates to Electronic Benefit Transfer. But it is commonly referred to as food stamps.
JMC cleverly uses the idea of “government cheese” after referencing EBT Cards to imply that his mother has taught him how to save his money.
*Another facet of “Saving.” Along with trying to save his relationship, JMC is also trying to save money.
CPT refers to “Colored Peoples Time” which implies always being late.
This explains why JMC says “its never too late”
Again, the idea of saving something before it is too late. The motif of “saving” is clear throughout the song – hence the title, “Save That.” Obviously driving a car that is in poor condition will slowly destroy it so JMC wants to prevent any sort of “breakdown” – mental or physical.
JMC may be hinting that problems with alcohol may have caused issues in his relationship.
SKC wants to keep things as they are, fearing that what may come next will bring turmoil to his relationship. Saving in a video game allows a player to continue without worry of losing all progress made prior should they slip up. SKC implies that he wants that luxury.
