Snoop Dogg wasn’t in N.W.A but he was rapping with them.

N.W.A and Ice Cube had a beef and a few diss tracks got thrown around. They have settled their problems with each other and they are back at it again. Dre, Snoop, and Ren are saying the beef is over.

R.I.P Eazy-E

Eric Lynn Wright,(September 7, 1963 – March 26, 1995), better known by his stage name Eazy-E, was an American rapper who performed solo and in the hip hop group N.W.A.

N.W.A and Snoop Dogg are some of the most famous west coast rappers. If West Coast rappers had a school, they would be the alumni.

It has been long suspected that Kurupt ghostwrote this verse for Dr Dre. Several pieces of evidence support this claim:

Dr Dre is no stranger to having ghostwritten verses, even on some of his most iconic tracks, most notably on “Still D.R.E.”.
Kurupt was working closely with Dr Dre during this time, appearing on several classic tracks such as “Xxplosive”, “The Next Episode” and “Housewife” from from Dr Dre’s 2001 album, so it would make sense that the two would have collaborated on it.
Disconnected but complex rhyme schemes are a hallmark of Kurupt’s style.

Reference to MC Ren’s “Behind the Scenes” off of his first solo EP, Kizz my Black Azz.

There was a controversy at one point where people thought that Dre had a ghost writer but this line was a call out to those who thought that he did by saying basically: that they can either get murdered by his beats and lyrics “A pencil, a pen” or they can get murdered in real life by a gun “or a Glock”

N.W.A was not a mainstream group. They almost never got played on the radio because the lyrics were too obscene, and they had very few concerts since they could never get police as security. They even received a letter from the FBI. Nothing they did was to appeal to the public. Ice Cube is saying they won’t change, everyone else will have to.

Back in 1985 they had Jheri Curls. Activator, a moisturizing hair styling product, is used to “activate” the curls.

The “juice and gin” part of the line is a blatant reference to Snoop Dogg’s “Gin and Juice” track from 1994.

Ice Cube is saying that N.W.A wouldn’t have existed if he didn’t meet with the rest. If you compare the two N.W.A albums: Straight Outta Compton and Niggaz4life, you can definitely see the difference – Straight Outta Compton is a much better album because Cube was a member of N.W.A then (he left the group later and didn’t contribute on Niggaz4life).

This is a reference to MC Lyte’s classic dis track 10% Dis, where she opens with the classic line

Hot damn, hot damn, hot damn, hot damn
Hot damn, hot damn ho, here we go again

Some people back when this song was released had their impalas “candy painted” basically by rewrapping the car to be colourful

Jerry Heller was the manager of NWA and Ruthless Records who rooked Ice Cube. He was considered to be one of the reasons NWA split up. Cube hated NWA ever since and he’s expressing his hate now.

A more precise rendering of this verse should read “got something for your throat” which is to say, MC Ren is willing to come for your throat-figuratively or perhaps literally.

Bullets make a whistling or “whiz” noise when they fly through the air. This sound can only be heard if it flies very close to you. It’s the same concept that creates the sound a ball makes when it flies over your shoulder.

Ice Cube implies that if it wasn’t for him and NWA, Dr.Dre would still be a DJ that would be rocking/dj-ing parties. Prior to NWA, Dr.Dre and DJ Yella were both Dj’s and members of the World Class Wrecking Cru which focused on R&B music.

Ice Cube asking what’s been happening since they last saw each other, during that time the relationship between N.W.A. was strained. The previous song they recorded together was ‘Natural Born Killaz’.

After NWA disbanded, people were starting to refer to it as “The world’s most dangerous group”, and for a reason – they didn’t hold back their words, their lyrics were violent and they were banned from pretty much every radio station out there.

This is also a refrence to the opening line of Prelude by NWA.

C-P-T means Compton where for example Eazy-E, Dr.Dre and Mack Eiht were born.

NWA’s character was that they were gangstas. This set of lyrics highlights it – NWA don’t give a fuck and do what they want.

“Bow Wow Wow, Yippee Yo Yippee Yay” is a phrase Snoop likes to use a lot. It is sampled from George Clinton’s “Atomic Dog”.
He likes it so much that he even gave it to rapper Bow Wow as his stage name.

The Treacherous Three was a Hip Hop group that was formed in 1978 based in Bronx, NY.
