[Verse 1]
Shining through your bedroom window
Remember me with a smile on my face
So when I'm gone you can know I'm in a better place
[Hook]
I'm not so sure
About anything anymore
I guess I got what I asked for
I've been so sore
From always sleeping on the floor
I don't wanna do this anymore
I don't wanna do this anymore
I don't wanna do this anymore
[Verse 2]
What's the point of waking up?
Why can't I give a fuck?
With the blinds closed and I'm stuck?
They say I'll get it when I'm older
Well, I'm getting close and no closure
Now I'm feeling like it's over
We don't even have to go there
Like damn
Tell me why I can't do anything right
Don't wanna complain so I keep it inside
Losing my mind, wide awake every night
Remember the days at that old cul-de-sac
Feel like that shit was a dream looking back
Now I can't help that I live in the past where nothing will last
[Hook]
I'm not so sure
About anything anymore
I guess I got what I asked for
I've been so sore
From always sleeping on the floor
I don't wanna do this anymore
I don't wanna do this anymore
[Instrumental Breakdown]
[Hook]
I'm not so sure
About anything anymore
I guess I got what I asked for
I've been so sore
From always sleeping on the floor
I don't wanna do this anymore
I don't wanna do this anymore
Depression is dark and in this case his life is full of darkness and he wishes he could open the blinds to let some light in, but because of this situation he is paralyzed and not able to make a move to change something
This line is a nod to the song “Stranger” by Counterparts.
Mulherin has had Counterparts vocalist Brendan Murphy make a guest appearance at one of his shows.
He is the light shining through his/her window which methaphorically means that the person is not able to sleep just like when your room is not dark enough, you can not sleep. The person is thinking the whole night about him and is concerned about him.
All he did with is life was making wrong choices and his life is a mess
When dealing with depression you become overwhelmed with the feeling of being misunderstood and that you are alone. He didn’t want to burden anyone so he decides its best to keep it to himself, which over time gets built up and results in destructive behavior; suicide.
He lost everything he ever wanted snd he wishes back the old days, but they are gone and he just won‘t accept that
