Lessons learned are hard and stern

Many times forget mind let the heart discern

Clouded judgment, I’m unfit, just letting time confirm

With the movement of the hands watch the calendar turn

Emotions overflow though I try to take it slow

So for those who’re in the know let the Spirit take control

‘Cause the actions of today resonate tomorrow

And at times the reaction is a painful sorrow

But wait

My heart is most deceptive

So I call the Spirit down just to help correct

But as collective my mind, body and soul are most receptive to his call

Determined not to fall though the enemy expect

Irrespective of his plans to demean my persona

I’ve got a smile on like I’m Lisa the Mona

Tears fall as my heart is broken and educated

But I flip so His name is spoken and celebrated

Through the ups and downs

Young, dumb, but different

Thought myself gifted

Thought I’d be found with the wheat when the chaff was sifted

Uplifted by the word I heard

But when tested and observed

Often deferred to what my flesh preferred

Now the learning curve resembles a slope

My only hope is to cling to word that you inspired and wrote

Honestly I thought I’d have more time to mess around

But when you’re busy planning, that’s when your life goes down

A wedding gown in my present eyesight

Long before I’d envisioned it with my eyesight

Who would’ve thought when I was acting imbecilic

God would enliven my life’s canvas like an artist with acrylic

Can’t mimic an agape like that

I was swallowing camels, just trying to strain the gnat

Looking back I learn the lessons

Correlate the facts

Graft my character

Get ready for attack

Through the ups and downs

Longtime, thought I’d forgiven but the pain lingers longer

Buried beneath tough skin the anger grows stronger

Takes root, but I bring it to the light in the truth

In the UV rays

Don’t take flight from the feeling but observe God’s ways

Examples soiled, disheartened when I reflect

Wish I could’ve made a difference

Connect with the Spirit making faith resurrect

Make war with the flesh and keep the nature in check

Retrospect vision is 20/20

Would’ve told you “put your money in your mouth

So your speech is worth something when it ain’t sunny”

And speak your heart, don’t veil it with attempts to be funny yo

What I learned from the lesson: speak up when your friend’s half-stepping

Less than 100% leaves gaps for the enemies weapons
