Common Ground

Annunciate

Or she will

Misunderstand

The tranquil

Tone of your voice

Disarming

My self-defence

So lilting yet not by choice

Contact in between the lines

Unfurling before my eyes

A sociopathic soul

Redundant of all control

Persuasive or so I'm told

Aggressively keeping hold

I once had it all worked out

Now confused and filled with doubt

Is this my dream?

Chainsmoking

Even though I took advice from you

I didn’t think you knew what I should do

Symbolically

Represent

Notions of a reset point of view

Appeasing is the least that I can do

And now it's late

November

Can't feel a thing

Or remember

To trust or share

My mindset

Beyond all care

No longer belongs to me

The same way

At twenty-four

I dream of

Knocking a door

Though there won’t be

Anyone there

Just a notion of despair

Alone now and

Getting old

The weather is

Turning cold

I once had it all worked out

Now confused and filled with doubt

Is this my dream?

Chainsmoking

Even though I took advice from you

I didn't think you knew what I should do

Symbolically

Represent

Notions of a reset point of view

Appeasing is the least that I can do

I'd like to

Say I have learned

Adapted

When I got burned

But there is

No way to tell

No reference

No common ground

And though I

Know it must be

Perspective is

Hard to see

And when

I write

Down these

Words I

Hate my

Self and

The person who I came to be and

Even though I took advice from you

I didn't think you knew what I should do

Because my lies confuse even myself

Began to worry for my mental health

Suppressing thoughts of any sign of grief

Friends were impressed with speed of relief

But I had learned to function without thought

The regret, the fear, the wasting of my life
