‎there once was a dress concealed in my room

‎unbeknownst to the world

‎and hidden away it must remain

‎as they're not reserved for me

‎"oh boys wear shorts and girls wear skirts"

‎is what they said to me

‎that’s just how it is and how it should be

‎then why am I so queer

‎to dream of dressing up all cute in frilly pink attire

‎and swirling in many elegant circles gentle as a breeze

‎to feel the urge to drape myself in clothes not made for me

‎yet know to keep this urge concealed lest be judged by the crowds

‎when I slip into this dress I concealed

‎away from prying eyes

‎an odd sense of freedom behind closed doors

‎covertly arise

‎but in this image I stay trapped

‎within my comfy space

‎outside these walls a cold and cruel world

‎why can't I self-express

‎to show myself dressed up all cute in frilly pink attire

‎and swirl in many elegant circles gentle as a breeze

‎to freely drape and flaunt myself in clothes not made for me

‎if only I could just ignore the prejudice of the crowds

‎how much longer must I remain concealed

‎all my life I lived the expectations others set on me

‎but now I know I can't just give up on my own true self

‎even if the world can’t love me I can love myself

‎what's the point of hiding from those who truly care

‎there once was a dress concealed in my room

‎but now I'm finally ready

‎to show myself dressed up all cute in frilly pink attire

‎and swirl in many elegant circles gentle as a breeze

‎to freely drape and flaunt myself in clothes not made for me

‎accept my true identity and live my life with pride
