[verse: mr. master]

My hometown has a tree

Branching like a miracle from its heart

Sheltered in your shadow since birth

Growing how we all grow: imperceptibly

Memories echo of climbing atop

Swinging from what was always alive

Youth allowed me nothing more than wood

For toy blocks, bonfires, playground chips

Where now I see building, burning, securing

I etched letters freehand into your flesh

When my heart felt Earth was the canvas

For sharing love with all forever

I drew blueprints in my mind

Measuring rope, practicing tying

For the day my last breath

Would be breathed in by you

From a journey, I’ve returned

And found you still home

I bear gifts from my travels

A full heart, cleansed eyes

A mind open, a soul ignited

No one showed me the branch within

Ribcage housing a seedling sprouted

A nature nurtured through trial

Strengthening, lengthening

Interwoven with like

Mistake divergence for divide

Everbinded

A throughline beyond percept

Threads essences entwined

Disparate dispelled

Shrink distance, upscale time

I, splintered into tendrils for stems to climb

Self shed harvested

Nutrients reaped healed our bloom ripened

Symbiotic sang the symphonic biome

Thundering through insides

Trace genealogical string taut tethered. All-together

Nominal feined separate. Truthful, the wealth common

Tilth-trodden mycelial net modules in convo

Constant co-faith-begetting

Sail harnessing winds epoch-spreading

Wonderment wandering sovereign at long last landed

Spawn caretaken collectively

Village connectome rapid exponential increase. Resonance beaming

Teeming with ancestral spirits angelic and demon

Anhedonia cured in a mere everywhere-reachin'

Quettasecondary season enclosed in a brief glimpse o' the shared

And the subsequent emergence of meaning

Reverberating through fleeting customer service greetings

Nods, gazes, driver's hand raises, longing on nights away for the days

Spark of a face, small-talk awkwardness fading

Questioning whether or not this is a date

Finally falling, feeling, failing, possible future swept away

Evergreen existential refrain

Pleasure-pain intensity sensed at elementary stages, everpresently sustained

We, imagined as leaves competing for sunlight's laughable

When the prize's actual inevitable destiny's

To everyone who is, was, will ever be

Our tree is home
