Inconvenient Change

The right thing to do should be easy enough

Everyone knows what it is

Ask a child, she'll tell you off the cuff

It’s in your face, too hard to miss

But there are too many shares in the game

Too many interests to protect

Too many parties with dividends to claim

Leave too many boxes unchecked

Nothing will change if it's inconvenient

We acquiesce in compromise that's inexpedient

Myopia can be helped, go get the fix

Knowledge is a low hanging fruit

Plant a tree, ignore the skeptics

And the rest will follow suit

But too many people put their trust in fate

And disregard the cold plain fact

That the longer we postpone and procrastinate

The likelier it’s too late for us to act

Nothing will change if it's inconvenient

We acquiesce in compromise that's inexpedient

The basis for values keeps changing over time

Therefore the means must change accordingly

If we refuse to revise our paradigm

We always come back to the fact that
