Deliver!

Said the lord to his gardener

Bring me that stretch of that river

It soothes me, it calms me

It has no qualms about me

For this I long, please deliver

Every day I want to see it glisten

Place it well within range

It sparkles, it gleams

The ever flickering stream

I never want to see it change

If we should relocate that river

It will only ever be a lake

A pond of stale and stagnant water

It will only be a mistake

Said the lord to his constructor

Erect that statue on the lawn

It soothes me, it calms me

It has no qualms about me

She’s quietly kind and withdrawn

Every day I want to see her near me

In her glorious elevated state

She’s graciously agleam

The unattainable dream

Forever on my yard inside the gate

If we place her up on a pedestal

We deny she’s alive and awake

We reveal all that’s weak and brittle

It will only be a mistake

If we place her up on a pedestal

We deny she’s alive and awake

We reveal all that’s weak and brittle

It will only be a mistake

Without an influx of pure fresh water

Or relief of an outlet pass

If you block the flow of the river

It will turn to a foul morass

Said the lord to his gardener

Place that statue by my river

It keeps me stagnated

Regression unabated

For this I long, please deliver
