VERSE 1:

Just met a woman she the new Van Gogh

Pretty young thing, eyes bright like hope

Took her left ear then I pulled her close

Like, “What I gotta do to take this artwork home?”

You on the wall, got a brand new brush

Pastel rose, like I made her blush

“You like my frame? My price won’t budge

This a gallery. Just look, don’t touch.”

We took a detour, picked up some acrylics

Red french tips had me tongue tied crimson

“I pray lovin’ you will last more than a minute

Back in art class, clеan it up when I finish.”

“Talk to me sweet, make a brand nеw piece

Splatter your paint in my penthouse suite.”

We got the type of talent Van Gogh couldn’t reach

On an all white canvas, brand new sheets

Just loved a woman she the new Van Gogh

Pretty young thing, hands soft like home

She whispered to me “Do it rough, don’t choke.”

I was up all night takin’ off her clothes

Made my escape another hookup, history

She texted me back like “Baby do you miss me?”

I said “Damn things are movin’ too quickly

I hope you understand I’m not toxic, Brittany.”

“I know you’re a killer, can you count all the bodies?

My ex treated me pretty damn ungodly

At the end of the day, am I just your colleague?

A tally in your bed frame? Just another hobby?”

“I know you’re a freak, can you swallow your pride?

You ain’t the only woman that I’ve been deep inside.”

She snapped back quick “Best believe you’ll find

A reason to cry, I’ll be dead inside.”

Just left a woman she the new Van Gogh

Pretty young thing, hair dark like coal

Got a weird text in a few weeks though

Said she wanted me to see her new art show

Walked in the gallery and found her gaze

I looked at the ceiling ‘til she walked my way

She said “You look good, and I’m glad you came

I hope you like the way my self portrait hangs.”

Stood on a chair and said “Let’s make a new memory

I’ve seen many men who were oh so friendly

But that was all to play with my box like Jeopardy

Now I’m ‘bout to finally feel something so heavenly

This work of art’s for my quote unquote ex/

Met him in this room, only used me for sex.”

We all saw the noose wrap around her neck

Then she kicked out the chair, took her last breath

Look at that woman she the new Van Gogh

Pretty young thing, lips cold like snow

She painted her neck with a last brush stroke

There’s a crimson bruise underneath that rope

You could hear a pin drop, looked around in shock

This performance art, that we wished we stopped

“It’s gotta be fake, right?” but I guess not

She’s six feet deep and I’m the one on top

I didn’t know much ‘cause I didn’t ask questions

Her middle name Judas like the one that left Him

12 comes through and I fear they’re arrestin’

I’m sorry, Brittany I’ve learned my lesson

Talked to a therapist who said “That’s tragic

Is that why you came in? If you don’t mind me askin’.”

“Still see her layin’ on my mattress

It’s hard to make love, can’t close that casket.”

“What ever happened with you and the vikings?

Well, I had to leave

Why?

I'm not a viking or a king, or ... or anything

So, what are you?

I'm me

Well, that's not very much, is it?”

“Am I doing it right?

What are you talking about?

I still don't understand the song

Doesn't matter. Just keep telling the story.”
