Sleep Alone

I don’t feel the feelings

I should be

Dissolved in loss and liberty

But I’m holding onto something

All these acknowledgments that you spilled across my heart

Have me feeling like it’s just too late

And I don’t want to be someone you hate

But the lost, regurgitated love

Fills me with the drive to gain dependency on my self

The same way you’ve been depending on me carelessly

I’ll stand alone

I’ve always been the soil you slung your roots around

So maybe now I’ll fucking breathe

Because everything that you said to me is the reason why I’m leaving

You said you needed someone strong

But tell me how you’ve even made it this far

The rock you stepped on constantly, was slipping out beneath your feet

For all the things that you wanted, never reaching your throat

I know I’m taken for granted now I sleep alone

Give me some space at the least I think I’ve earned it

After everything we’ve been through this feels so deserving

Self-proclaimed support that you barely gave me turned into a rotting rose

You can lie to yourself and pretend I was the reason you felt so weak

But I know you fed your dependency, with my generosity

For all the things that you wanted, never reaching your throat

I know I’m taken for granted now I sleep alone

Give me some space at the least I think I’ve earned it

After everything we’ve been through this feels so deserving

It’s not your fault

I’m so sorry

And I hope you know you helped me see

Who I was meant to be

All along

You glow so bright these days without me

How can I selfishly stay here with you?

When I know were better off moving on
