[Intro: Toriel]
What a miserable creature, torturing such a poor, innocent youth!
It is I, Toriel! Guardian of the Ruins
[Toriel]
Oh, dear child, you've fallen down
It's dark and there's no one around to guide you through the dark
But please, don't you worry
Your little head, I'll be here to guide you along
Right here by your side, through the maze
Just take my hand , don't be afraid
It has been so long since a human has come by here
You remind me of love I'd once known
[Instrumental Break]
[Toriel]
Listen well, my dear child
You're going to grow up
And learn all that life will teach you
Your mother is always so proud
And you will never leave me, here you will stay
Never will you be afraid here with me
You've fallen down, now get up
The underground isn't such an awful place to live peacefully together
And who would need to see light of day?
[Instrumental Break]
[Toriel]
Oh, my child, bathed in light
I know that you're scared, that you've fallen down
But Toriel will spare your life
Come, my child, let's move on and live in my world
“Falling down” throughout undertale has a double meaning. On one hand, humans fall from the surface (the meaning of this instance.) On the other hand, monsters who “fall down” are incredibly close to death.
This a reference to how the bosses in the game’s name’s are a play on words. Toriel is “Tutorial” because she wants how she wanted to be a teacher and how she tells you how the game works like a “Tu-Toriel”.
This is due to how her and Asgore took care of Chara before Chara and Asriel died and how she took care of the other fallen humans before they died.
Its somewhat funny knowing that if Toriel had as much Determination as frisk, she would melt into a puddle.
A reference to when Toriel literally takes the human’s hand to guide them through a spike puzzle.
This spoken part is taken directly from the original game, when Flowey tries to kill the player by fooling them into thinking its attacks are “friendly pellets”, and Toriel saves them.
Toriel refuses to let Frisk go in-game, affirming that this is their home now.
