Yo it's your boy, um...

I don't have a rapper name yet...

Oh well...

Yeah I'll never make it big I'm here to have a good time

Spread a good message with a good flow and good rhymes

A good high? Nah, rapping good's mine but good

God getting good is getting bloody recognized!

It's not about the fame in the rap game it's all the same

Know a name? Wow, get them normies out the way!

You know the ones who actually put some effort into what they say?

But woah hey

(woah hey)

I was never here to hate...

I'm here to translate all the bullshit politicians say...

Jk, that'll have to wait 'cause right now there's

Other shit that's filling up my plate!

Let me demonstrate to you mate, that if you eat my cake:

You will get a punch to the face

And that will set the records straight!

"Wait, is that a metaphor?" I hear you thinking..

No, I just want some fucking cake...

Never underestimate

The power that communicates

When you're talking shit

Tryna get them to retaliate

Wait whose they?

Jose! Oh, Never mind just ' deedly dee'

To the next set of rhymes

The media's feeding' ya lies

You don't realize

About a fake image that you're seeing with your eyes

But it doesn't die

And despite

All its might

See the light

Try to see through all the stereotypes tonight

Yeah

Im just keeping it real

The Achilles heel

Giving the feels

I'm In my field

Never feel like taking a knee

I never kneel

Never take the blame for stealing shit that I would never steal

Cause I'm raw steel

I'll get the whole world clapping

Whole world rapping along to all my crap raps

They're talking bout fat stacks

I'm talking bout flap jacks

Talking on my snapchat

They're baiting out the fat rats

Hold up

Turn the beat up

Take a chill put your feet up

Now repeat what

I just said

In your head

Masturbating in your bed

Thinking about the shit they're teaching you in sex ed

Woah, that got weird-

But that's what happens when you write the shit that's coming to your head

Let's talk about deep shit

What happens when you die?

What happens if you're deaf for the whole of your life?

What language do you think in?

Now that's got you thinking

What happens if colours not the same for every eye?

Like if my reds red but red to you is blue to me

And blue to you is green to me but we still both call it green

Or blue

("dab a dee daba die")

Then alright

Not why

Cause backwards rap try imma right

You could say that I'm backwards in the way that I write

Like I'm high as a kite

But I'm tryna suffice

I'll fight the good fight

Try my best not to lie

When I slip the devils there man he's keeping an eye

On me like a zombie fucking staring with a tommy gun

Already won, he's on the hunt he comes and it's a hit and run

Shit I'm done

Fuck this shitty rap , fuck the system

Shit there's like 20 seconds left, better use em

Have ever wondered if we're in a simulation

The nation is fake

The life we're living is a game? Huh

Don't wanna think about that

Just wanna take a break from my usual deep rap

Style

Give an inch take a mile

Don't be a dick

You can smile every once in a while

Eat some Doritos

Come un pastel mi amigo

Never good at ending raps

I'll give it a go

Finito

“Come un pastel mi amigo”

In spanish, this translates to “Eat some cake my friend” a reference to earlier in the rap

“Then alright Not why Cause backwards rap try imma right”
👍 0

when read backwards, this lyric states “Right, imma try and rap backwards cause why not, alright then” Which is a meta joke about the fact this lyric is backwards and leads into the next lyric nicely

“Finito”

‘Finito’ is the Italian word for ‘Finished’, so Luke uses it to close the song in style…

“Let’s talk about deep shit What happens when you die? What happens if you’re deaf for the whole of your life? What language do you think in? Now that’s got you thinking What happens if colours not the same for every eye? Like if my reds red but red to you is blue to me And blue to you is green to me but we still both call it green Or blue”

Luke likes to include deep themes in his music, however ‘Good Time’ was written to have a more upbeat tone than his other singles, such as ‘Archangel’…

“Eat some Doritos”

This lyric was added because, when experiencing writers block, Luke asked his friends to see what he should write about. One friend suggested Doritos and, so, the lyric “Eat some Doritos” was born

“Yeah I’ll never make it big I’m here to have a good time Spread a good message with a good flow and good rhymes”

Unlike many of this generation’s rappers, Luke’s main aspiration is not to achieve success, but rather express his talent and enjoy it…

“The media’s feeding’ ya lies You don’t realize About a fake image that you’re seeing with your eyes But it doesn’t die And despite All its might See the light Try to see through all the stereotypes tonight”

This lyric is referring to big media companies, and how they have so much power that they can “feed you lies” about anything they want and will not be stopped. However this lyric is also empowering people to not give in to the medias lies and to instead “see through the stereotypes”- an attempt to make people reflect on themselves and what they believe

“Let me demonstrate to you mate, that if you eat my cake: You will get a punch to the face And that will set the records straight! “Wait, is that a metaphor?” I hear you thinking.. No, I just want some fucking cake...”

In this lyric, Luke is suggesting to not look into everything so deeply- something he has stated he is guilty of himself

“God getting good is getting bloody recognized!”
👍 0
×

Here, Luke is throwing shade towards the more popular rappers, implying that they are not traditionally ‘good’, but rather widely recognized…

“You know the ones who actually put some effort into what they say?”
👍 0
×

Again, Luke criticizes how little effort popular rappers put into their music…

“Fuck this shitty rap”
👍 0
×

This once again shows how Luke is insecure about his writing

“Never good at ending raps I’ll give it a go”
👍 0
×

This is, yet again, another reference to Luke’s insecurity in his writing, specifically the ending of his raps.

“They’re talking bout fat stacks I’m talking bout flap jacks”
👍 0
×

This once again shows Luke’s desire not to make money, but to have fun and do what he enjoys- in this case, flapjacks

“You can smile every once in a while”
👍 0
×

This is a reminder to himself as much as anyone, to take a moment to appreciate good things in life and to not take everything too seriously.

“Im just keeping it real The Achilles heel”
👍 0
×

This lyric suggests that Luke is just trying to be realistic, something that is uncommon in the rap community as suggested by the following line “The Achilles heel” -which is a phrase for a downfall or problem- which Luke would be to the rap community (because of messages like this) if he were at all popular of famous

“(”dab a dee daba die”)”

This is a reference to the song “blue” by Eifell 65

“Whole world rapping along to all my crap raps”
👍 0
×

This is Luke showing his insecurities about his writing, by ironically suggesting that the whole world will listen to his raps which he proclaims as “crap”

“I don’t have a rapper name yet...”
👍 0
×

During writing and recording, Luke hadn’t thought of a suitable “rapper name”…

“But that’s what happens when you write the shit that’s coming to your head”
👍 0
×

This lyric shows how Luke had less restriction while writing this song and decided to just write whatever he felt like

“Deedly dee’”

This reflects the sound of the instrumental at the time the lyric is spoken

“Have ever wondered if we’re in a simulation The nation is fake The life we’re living is a game? Huh Don’t wanna think about that Just wanna take a break from my usual deep rap Style”
👍 0
×

These lines again suggest deep themes, however in this song, Luke tries to sway away from such ideas…

“Never underestimate The power that communicates When you’re talking shit Tryna get them to retaliate”

The literal message behind this lyric is to be careful what you say to others as you never know how they might take it. This point is later elaborated on in the lyric “Don’t be a Dick”

“A good high? Nah, rapping good’s mine”
👍 0
×

This is Luke saying how he doesn’t need to do drugs to have a good time, but rather just rap

“Shit there’s like 20 seconds left, better use em”
👍 0
×

At this point in the song, 20 seconds remain of the instrumental, so Luke cleverly uses up two of them with this satire line…

“Don’t be a dick”
👍 0
×

Just don’t be a dick to people, it’s not that hard

“Give an inch take a mile”
👍 0
×

This refers once again to people in life getting out more than they put in, and is throwing shade at people who Luke thinks doesn’t deserve popularity or fame
