Ultra Violent - Intellectual

This sample comes from a scene in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, originally released in May 2002. The line is delivered by Christopher Lee, who plays Count Dooku, a.k.a. Darth Tyranus:

This soundbite appears in other Logic songs. For instance, it’s interpolated in the outro for the May 2013 track “Young Jedi”:

Logic may be commenting on an issue brought up by a Logic Subreddit Post, which previewed lyrics from Logic’s songs Intro and Don’t Be Afraid To Be Different and how they clearly contradict each other. As Logic brings this conflict into attention, he addresses the fact that he acknowledges him doing contradicting himself.

This is a nod to Logic’s September 2018 track “Wu Tang Forever.”

Wu-Tang Clan is an American hip-hop collective formed in 1992. On January 31, 1994, they released their hit single, titled “C.R.E.A.M.” The acronym stands for “cash rules everything around me.”

Pepe & Jordan are two of Logic’s bodyguards.

Pepe previously got a shout out by Logic in the beginning of 2018’s “The Return”:

Big Pepe. Oh, you got the studio shoutout. You feelin' good about yourself right now, huh?

S.Pellegrino is a luxurious Italian mineral water brand. Pellegrino is thought to be more luxurious than the PepsiCo bottled water brand Aquafina.

Logic previously mentioned “sippin' Pellegrino” on his 2019 song “Lost in Translation”:

Fuck you like Cee-Lo, buck it then I reload
Sippin' Pellegrino, shoot the shit like Tarantino

This is pretty self explanatory, but essentially when Logic says “Feeling arrogant, all up in your system like heroin”, he is referring to the drug Heroin.

Heroin is an opioid drug that enters your body through injecting it, smoking it, sniffing it, or snorting it. So yes, it is “all up in your system.”

In this line Logic is reffering to himself being very dedicated to creating music. Very much so that you can pretty much always find him behind the microphone recording songs, or on the MPC which is a beat making tool often used by professional producers.

Logic is referring to the 90’s sitcom, Martin. In the show, a couple of the main characters are Martin Payne and his wife Gina.

This is a reference to 5AM on Welcome To Forever.

This line is also a reference to Kick in the Door, a track on The Notorious B.I.G.’s Life After Death.

This is a play on the words “too weak” and “two week”. One week is 7 days. Two weeks would make 14 days, but 17 days go beyond two weeks.

This line is a reference to the song “Triumph.” by The Wu Tang Clan ft. Cappadonna. In Verse 1 Inspectah Deck Raps: “I bomb atomically, Socrates' philosophies and hypotheses / Can’t define how I be dropping these mockeries.”

This is a reference to Quentin Tarantino’s October 1994 crime drama, Pulp Fiction.

Leading up to the film’s climax, Bruce Willis‘ character, a boxer named Butch Coolidge, is forced to kill a serial rapist by the name of Zed. He proceeds to take his motorcycle. This scene produced a classic line, as Butch’s girlfriend asks him where he got the chopper; he responds, “Zed.” When she asks who Zed is, he says:

Zed’s dead, baby. Zed’s dead.

“Deezy” is one of the many nicknames used by James Dewitt Yancey, most commonly known as J Dilla. Dilla was a legendary hip-hop producer who unfortunately passed away in 2006.

This is a nod to Kanye West’s 2007 track, “Good Morning”, on which he raps:

Everything we dreamed of

No Doubt is a rock band fronted by pop vocalist Gwen Stefani. One of Stefani’s early hit solo songs, “Hollaback Girl,” features the bridge:
