When logic put up his mixtape on Datpiff it was taken down because it got so many views in such little space of time they thought that he was buying his views (the system broke) -or overloaded. So logic was in for maintenance whilst they checked out the situation (the mixtape was taken down), but it later was found out that he wasn’t paying for views, he was just really popular.

Logic asked his ex to marry him 2 years ago, unfortunately she said no, and left him with a broken heart. Now she is calling him, wanting to get back together with him probably due to his success and fame. However, now he has no time for her, realising that she’s fake.

“She wanna make up” – meaning she wants to get back together for the wrong reasons, and also alluding to face make-up cover girl in the next line line.

If Obama can become the president despite being black, Logic can make it in the rap industry as a light skinned man in an music/genre industry dominated by an African-American community; note they are both of mixed Caucasian and Black parentage.

Girls are on him, thirsty: want him. Aquafina is a water bottle company, fina means fine in Spanish. (water-fine)

Also, Aquafina sounds like aqua-fiend-a. Thirsty/fiending for the dick.

Logic is riding through Los Angeles in a Coupe de Ville (A Chevrolet made from the 1950s through 80s. Many are given hydraulics and are referred to as “low riders”)

Do the right thing at the right time so, you don’t fail.

Also alluding to a topic Logic seems to care about, similar to Snoop and Dre’s attitudes back in the day – STDs.

Then again she could be burning, and that’s not what I’m about – Logic

He says he’s working so hard on his music that he has no time for girls: music is his only girl for now.

The thing is, I feel like so many artists, well, not really artists but so many people think they can rap and they just want a deal and the glitz and the glamour and the women but they don’t understand that all I do and want to do is rhyme.

Many people said he wouldn’t make it to where he is now, touring Europe, hundreds of thousands of fans, XXL Freshman, Def Jam signee and the incredible music he is making right now. He’s proving them all wrong.

Logic is saying that he will always make music true to himself and won’t sell out, unlike most of Hollywood. Also, Folgers is an American brand of coffee and links to the previous statement as Logic states he is grounded, meaning down to earth (not Hollywood) and coffee can also come grounded.

Following the line above, he hopes his fans and listeners can learn from his experiences, the same way he grew up following great artists like Biggie, Big L, and 2Pac.

Hiroshima was a city in Japan that was devastated by a nuclear bomb in 1945 during WWII.

Logic says he is going to ‘blow up’ – meaning get popular (wordplay on the actual ‘blowing up’ of the Japanese city). While doing so, he will get tougher and stronger.

This is an ode to the rap duo Outkast from whom this beat is from. The instrumental of the song is Ms. Jackson by Outkast. Logic is also saying that he would be rapping for whoever would listen, be it 10 people or 10 million

Logic used to work in a restaurant, cleaning tables, but his fortune has changed since he signed with Def Jam. He used to work at the Joes Crab Shack in the Rio Shopping Center, Maryland, as mentioned before in “Young Sinatra II”:

Now, I used to bus tables now I bust rhymes

‘The tables have turned’ refers to a change in position or fortune.

There’s a good imagery in this line, as you can imagine Logic going from serving customers to the situation flipping so that he’s the one being served.

The shout-out in the last line shows that Logic cares for his family and his homies. His work in rap is to take care of those he holds close to him.

A ‘kennel’ is a shelter for pets, usually cats and dogs. In other words, he is saying that he’s providing money and shelter for his close ones.

Picking up from the last bar, Logic is making a reference to a Notorious B.I.G. freestyle. Biggie says the same bar in the freestyle linked below.

Nobody knows what Logic’s been through besides himself. Also, what he tells his fans in his music, is probably only a fraction of what has really happened, which he has mentioned in his previous music.

The line is also reminiscent to a verse off of “Spaceship” by Kanye West:

You can’t catch my hustle
You can’t fathom my love, dude

Martin Payne is a fictional character played by Martin Lawrence in the sitcom “Martin”. His wife is Gina.

The Renaissance was a relevant cultural movement that was spanned roughly from the 14th to the 17th century which spread throughout Europe. During this time many scholarly, formative, classical, and educational ideas were created. Logic compares to his music to this age in which his lyricism and musical content should be just as appreciated.

Renaissance painter Paolo Veronese depicted the act of Jesus turning water into wine in his The Wedding at Cana, as religious art experienced a resurgence during this time. Logic’s cover for his 2017 Everybody album is a reinterpretation of this work.

Logic’s signature final line of a lot of his verses.

When Logic was living with his mom, she used to always call him a “nigger”, because he is half white, half black. He couldn’t handle all the discrimination, so he ran away from home at 17.

Logic can’t believe that he has such an enormous fan base overseas, given that just a few years ago he was a very underground Maryland rapper.

He refers to the professional tennis players Serena Williams and her sister Venus Williams.

Serena Williams is widely considered to be one of the best women tennis players in history. Venus, her older sister, is successful but not nearly as great a degree that Serena is.

Logic is implying that if Venus was not related to Serena, she would not be as famous as she is now, similar to the way Logic would not be famous without a microphone to sing with.

Logic pulled a heavy double entendre here which most people miss even after listening to the track several times.
On the one hand he says “couldn’t break change to make sense” in the literal way which is in the lyrics, talking about them rappers unable to make a difference/ stand out to make sense.
On the other hand in the way he pronounces it he also says “couldn’t break change (money) to make sense (cents)” bringing it back around hitting them again for not beeing able to earn good money.

With his exquisite flow, style, and lyrical talent Logic has passed a number of opposition from other rappers/MC’s and watches them break or flip as flapjacks [pancakes] and bacon do as they are cooked/removed from the packaging. Also MCs ‘break fast’ for “breakfast” like flapjacks and bacon (Shit most people eat for breakfast)

This last line was used by Notorious B.I.G. in “The Wickedest”. It explains the ode to Biggie in the next line.

The Notorious B.I.G., Big L, and 2Pac are all rap legends who died too young. Logic is saying that they are watching over him, presumably from Heaven.

There is a sample here that has Notorious B.I.G. saying “Biggie!”. This sample is lifted out of “Kick in the Door” and had been utilised previously by Logic on his track “No Biggie” off of Young Sinatra: Undeniable.

Swish cheese is a type of cheese that originated in the area around Emmental, in Switzerland.

Swiss cheese doesn’t refer to actual cheese, but that fact that he’s getting money in Europe from his tour.

Logic left America & has gone to Europe with his team for his European tour. He wants us to excuse him from the roll call because he is absent and is currently not in America.

His family was on the supplemental nutrition assistance program. It is a federal aid program that provides financial assistance for purchasing food to low- and no-income people living in the U.S.

Hip-Hop and Rap Music is an industry that typically consists of African-American rappers, and the darkness of your skin is seen as a positive factor.

Logic feels he needs to prove himself as a “light-skinned rapper” in this industry, even if he is mixed (He has a black father and a white mother) and struggles to prove he is not white.

In contrast to how African-Americans were held back, Logic is being judged and held back for being light skinned.

The last line is quite similar to Joey BADA$$’s line on “1 train by Week 11 jorunal

Logic hasn’t seen his mom since he left her at age 17.

Logic thinks that people are going to think he’s nuts for rapping over Outkast’s classic song “Ms. Jackson” instrumental. If a rapper rhymes over someone else’s beats, he will always end up being compared to how they delivered, and it’s quite hard to compete against one of the best songs by 2 Southern rap legends!

Here, Logic says he is travelling to Paris, France, while dropping the F-bomb, then apologizing for his French.

This is a common phrase to apologize for swearing but also references the country he is in: France.

This may also a reference to Logic’s lack of French skills, as this is probably one of the first times being in France, early in his career. This could give the above line a third meaning of him literally apologizing for his inexperience with French.

Logic is smoking cigarettes while outside it’s snowing as London has very cold/mild weather temperatures.

Also smoking can render to the fog seen in cold temps.

Logic’s refers to his own ego as his cousin. His ego, otherwise known as his self conscious, is the only one that can really understand how important rapping is to Logic – only Logic can understand himself.
