[Intro]
[Verse 1]
It makes a mixture of incredible brawn
They say what never went wrong was broken all along
This is a new start and we've already lost
[Chorus 1]
With your head held high
There is always time before it all disappears
It's witching hour and there's no use
[Post-Chorus]
The light is dull through the fog in the air
Now why can I not make this fair?
The cons at the end of their rope
Say, "Where did all the good men go?"
[Verse 2]
And now we'll never get tired of feeling uninspired
The law's effects will trace an imminent plan
They say the good'll go blind
For lending out their eyes
This is a new start and we've already lost
[Chorus 2]
There is always time before it all disappears
It's witching hour and there's no use
In losing hope for a world you can't save
[Interlude]
[Bridge]
Am I the tortoise, am I the hare?
The race is before us, I am aware
But you could never make me scared, I don't care
Nothing's gonna make this easy
If it's a dream or if it's a lie
The colour of dawn is stuck in the sky
But you could never make me scared, I don't care
Nothing's gonna make this right
I know that the earth is stuck on its side
There must be a reason we are alive
So you could never make me scared, I don't care
Nothing's gonna make this easy
[Chorus 3]
There is always time before it all disappears
It’s hard to stay positive when it seems like there’s a new horror or controversy around every corner. Throughout the song, there’s a gradual realization that despite what an awful mess this place can be, there’s only so much an individual can do, so you might as well just live your life. If your goal is to be the best person you can be, you’re already doing plenty. I was a bit conflicted about this line because I thought it might come off as, “the world is doomed anyway, so just give up,” but it’s more of a, “stop wasting your life worrying about things you can’t control and focus on what you can handle”
So much of life is governed by chance that it can feel like there’s no use in even trying to hold on to anything good because it can all be lost in an instant. This is the pessimistic half of the song, without that last line on the chorus there
Another short phone recording. The original sounds pretty lame, but distortion makes anything sound cool 👍

For the longest time, this was the entire song. It was just going to be a short interlude, but after a year of sitting on it, I decided I liked it too much. I find it’s a nice way to kick it off because it sets up this bleak atmosphere that almost feels like the world is at a standstill
Everyone thinks they’re the good guy. Perspective is a strange thing
As I was writing this line, I was aware that it isn’t grammatically correct, but I knew I had to do it anyway. Felt right. So if you could start using the word ‘revere’ like this from now on so that it catches on, becomes the new norm, and future generations look back on this without questioning it, that’d be fantastic. Thank you, I appreciate it.
I’m an incredibly forgetful person, so I write reminders into songs. I’m a worrier. So this is a reminder to not do that.
I’ve always loved referencing previous lyrics within a song or from other songs altogether
