The Prestige

Been showing tricks across land and sea

Every time I thought I don’t have it in me

Some were okay, some were just good

And some were mindblowing, depends on the mood

But then I dug up something ancient

And you wanted to know it real bad

So I shared it with you, I mean what else could I do?

Took me months to figure it out

But your heart was still broken

And I became just a token

Three sevens at the slot machine

And you don’t even know it

What a cruel trick

And people are rhyming one more speech about timing, circumstances and all that rubbish

So many of us dream to be brave, but look for all the reasons not to

So many of us want to feel heat, but will do anything to stay colder

And I guess when I showed you there’s no trickery here I was hoping that you’d be a bit bolder

But your heart was still broken

And I became just a token

Three sevens at the slot machine

You pulled the lever and then left the screen

What a cruel trick

Yeah, maybe I showed you the prestige too soon

Cause it felt like we pulled real magic

So I wanted to tell you only the truth

That there ain’t no logic to this

Hit or miss baby, hit or miss

Hit or miss

Now my heart is the same

But I can’t really show it

Three sevens at the slot machine

One day you just might know it

What a trick on us both

Out of sight, out of mind

Are you still watching closely?..

It’s a killer, alright
