Stole the Show - Intellectual

By saying sold out, we know that he means that their time together has worn itself out and that there are going to be no more “shows” since they themselves are sold out like their “crowds” (social pressures).

Obviously we know their relationship deteriorated, however, their legacy continues on without them and they move on in life and try to put this behind.

As amazing as their relationship (the show) has been, it must come to an end now. Everything good comes to an end.

The first line begins the extended theater metaphor. Parsons' relationship (or “movie”) has ended, and that signals that lights and credits.

There’s no one to blame for this breakup. Time has passed and the love isn’t alive, and the passion isn’t there. The debut or the beginning was amazing but that is over. The show can’t go on so the relationship is ending.

Kygo stole the show at one of his first major performances for an American audience. In 2014, he filled in for his idol Avicii at the TomorrowLand festival outside of Atlanta.

“I remember I was a little nervous and skeptical if people were going to like the music, because it’s so different from the other people that played the main stage that day. But the response afterwards was great. There weren’t that many people listening to that style of music back then.”

By the end of 2015, he was stealing shows at Coachella, and clubs—a setting that he never expected to play, given his laid back music.

“I never imagined myself playing at clubs. I saw myself playing for a crowd sitting on the grass, drinking a beer in the sun.”

Lyrically, the chorus puts the relationship’s end in a sad but triumphed light. The applause and curtain call represents everything good that has came out of their romance. Even if it’s the end, at least he won’t regret his experiences.

Songs like Rihanna’s “Take a Bow” employed the same metaphor.

Kygo‘s remix stole the show. His tropical house treatment of the track made it into a hit. Parson James told FADER:

This is hands down one of my favorite records that I’ve ever written, and at the time that this remix idea was presented to me it all just fell into place. I absolutely loved what Kygo was doing, and when I heard his version of the song I knew it would be an incredible way to present it in a different light. The original is so special to me, and it was very important that I got to release it, but I think that the sentiment of the actual song itself resonates in both versions, and I’m ecstatic that it has reached so many people.

As the “movie” (the relationship) ends, the audience starts to cry. Everybody (friends and family) is feeling sad, that something beautiful like this has to end. This line represents doing the last showing of a play, and even as it’s emotional, the singer is reassuring the others that they are leaving on top

Their entire journey has fell under their responsibility, there are no excuses for the end of the night and what’s happened. Whirled roses are probably old signifying that they are old and used at this point.

Explains that the thrill of their extended metaphorical relationship can no longer ride itself, it’s faded away.
