[Verse 1]

I remember them days I used to have to go to treatment

I had anger issues, me and someone else were always beefin’

Life at home was rough for me and I took it out on my teachers

I faced many demons, but I know it happened for a reason

I remember everyday when I was 6 and I was eatin’

Spaghettios in dirty bowls just ‘cause it was easy

In the other room my Mom was sleep, I was watchin’ TV

Barely ever saw her, but I know it happened for a reason

I had to move on, I moved in wit’ my Grandma on the beach

And since I didn’t learn in school she taught me how to write and read

And people used to call me white because of the way I was speakin’

I had to put up wit’ the teasin’, but it happened for a reason

I used to be a problem child and still my Grandma never beat me

She would keep me in her prayers and pray that I would come to see

That things will all end up okay if I just wait and keep believin’

She told me “Kateel, everything happens for a reason”

[Chorus]

Everything, everything, everything happens for a reason

Happens for a reason

Happens for a reason

[Verse 2]

I took it to heart and started livin’ by the message

I was waitin’ for the blessings knowing God was tryna test me

Family members got arrested

Movin’ houses every second

But I believed what she was sayin’, never did I second guess it

I remember all the stress and all the pain up in my chest

And the nights without no rest, but still makin’ the best of it

Knowin’ I was stressed and never did I express

I ain’t need nobodies help

I ain’t need nobodies suggestions

Things started to look up I knew that I had to grow up

I didn’t know who I could trust so my own advice was enough

I remember when I was young I had to pack up all my stuff

One second I’m at Momma’s, next second I’m in the cut

I remember in that fire Momma came and woke me up

She picked me up from out my bed

She had my back no matter what

I was scared to lose the house, I ain’t wanna give it up

I seen the neighbors dog die, he was only just a pup, but

[Chorus]

Everything, everything, everything happens for a reason

Happens for a reason

Happens for a reason

[Verse 3]

I was turnin’ into a man when I was only just a youngin’

I had to learn how to be happy without comfortable money

I couldn’t go to the store and buy everything that I wanted

But I kept it positive and I think I learned a lot from it

Now the money doesn’t stress me, God really blessed me

He just had to test me to turn me into the best me

It got a little messy so I went and got the messed cleaned

Now I always dress clean, now I struggle with less things

Now I feel respectable, educated, and ethical

Finally things are accessible, life is almost acceptable

But I gotta keep workin’ ’cause I know that they still skeptical

I be gettin’ obsessional over being professional

I’m not easily impress-able, not easily accessible

When it comes to myself I tend be very correctional

My life is unforgettable, my struggle was incredible

And little did I know the terrible things were intentional ‘cause

[Chorus]

Everything, everything, everything happens for a reason

Happens for a reason

Happens for a reason

Everything, everything, everything happens for a reason

Happens for a reason

Happens for a reason
