Another Cinderella

Another Cinderella singing in a minor key

She winked her eye, then sold the lie I eagerly believed

How could her hand, so soft and warm, hold on to all that ice?

Love, she knew, was almost never worth that kind of price

Even though her story now may lack that joyful laughter

You know that fairy tales, like hers, end happily ever after

No carriage waits, no slipper fits

No candle sings her name

She loudly stood wherе silence sits

Then stеpped out of the flame

No one's owed her second look

But I'll cherish every grin

As Cinder-ella reads her book

And finds herself within

Again, this Cinderella sees her fairy tale is grim

She understands her value now was never about him

However, should you ever doubt her happiness won’t win

Look a little closer at the scripture ‘neath her skin

Even in the face of fear, her faith knows where she’s been

Yesterdays are merely ghosts, and true joy starts within

No carriage waits, no slipper fits

No candle sings her name

She red those scars like scripture lines

And stepped out of the flame

The treasure spent, the time it took

Just ash inside the wind

Since Cinderella closed her book

And whispered, "now let's begin"
