[Verse 1: Jimmy the Human]

I used to know a house cat named Rusty

And Rusty lived inside a house where the food was plain

And the air was stuffy

His bed was comfy

But every day the cat would wake up

Look around and wonder why he lived for nothing

He was gettin' chubby

And every time he watched the back door open

He thought about takin’ a chance and running

Then one day he heard the crack of the door

Got his ass off the floor, and said "fuck it"

He sprinted through the crack and barely made it to the porch

Took a tumble

Sprained his ankle

Scraped his jaw

Got up, got outta the yard, heard the dogs barkin' behind him

Knowing he had felt the same way before

Now rusty would finally see what they had saw

Full speed ahead, wondering what laid in store

He had never felt so at home, all alone

Fresh air up his nose, through his skin, to his pores

Blades of grass rubbing up against his paws

But food is really what his stomach really grumbled for

Night time hit, the lights shined dim, and like-minded

Predators were huntin' right by him

And Rusty knew it, but he was not afraid

Matter fact, he would stay calm and stock prey

He found a mouse

It was Rusty’s first official meat outta the house

He dug his teeth into some fresh kill

The blood was so damn sweet

He couldn't wait for his next meal!

The ground was wet

The air was cold

The food was scarce

But it was the best life he's ever known

A week later Rusty passed away

'Cause living conditions were treacherous

But Rusty smiled as he passed, knowing that he was a lucky one

Most cats never get to live
