State of our nation is changin’, as I’m writin' this sentence

Don’t believe everything you hear from the media

We’ve got a president seriously misleading us

He says the opposite of all our most trusted physicians

No matter what they tell us, he goes and contradicts it

I pray for children, the ones who don’t have a stable home

I hope we get some answers as this war wages on

Coronavirus, you’re taking so many of our people

I look you up in the dictionary, I see EVIL

Missing the times we could go outside

We could kick it with homies

And we could socialize

How many more of our people really have to die?

How many times are we gonna sit here and sing the blues?

I’m getting antsy inside the house and I need a beverage

There’s only so many fuckin' shows I can watch on Netflix

As a citizen, there’s only so much you can do

We’re living in a movie minus the cast and the crew

Out of luck if you don’t even have direct deposit

The government stimulus ain’t even coming 'till August

This is really madness, the stock market’s crashing

I really hope the Lord above can start working some magic

Are we gonna get by? People getting laid off

They getting furloughed

All the way from LA, to the bay, to the boroughs

All this pain and this sorrow, you remain really hollow

Gotta pray for tomorrow

Every single day I really just hope for some change
