I can tell your energy's been off lately
You've been through a lot since the decade began
I think you should take time to reflect on what's happened over the years to see where you're at
Then we can go from there
Okay
Had a drink on my twenty first birthday but sobered up quickly
That was back during pandemic times, 2020 really hit me
School's ending the harder lessons come in, it's getting tricky
Question when all the blessings coming in, are you with me?
It's time to check in
You still put way too much pressure on yourself
It's time to check in
You know you might be blocking the blessings from coming right?
It's time to check in
You need to stop getting in your own way man
It's time to check in
Let's hear more about what's been happening
In '21, finished school, earned a piece of paper
All good I guess now I need some paper
Walmart worker, barely saved money, didn't live better
Showed employers my degree, no takers
Kept a notebook with me at the register
Hoping what I wrote in it would impress the editor of a blog
Or a label head when I recorded it to a beat
But thought I'd have to save that dream for later
Still opened with an album but the store closed down
In '22 was working blue collar
Went through living Hell all for a few dollars
Left without a backup, kept it secret from father and mother
I pissed them off, somehow I found me another
Cool but my personal life need improvement
Still under my parents' roof, I need movement
Watching peers make progress while I look for the door
I feel stupid
It's time to check in
Okay what I'm gathering from this is a sense of feeling like you want more
It's time to check in
But deep down you feel like you can't have it
It's time to check in
I don't blame you, the world we live in conditions people to believe this about themselves
It's time to check in
You've got to unlearn that
Please continue
Saved enough to move to a new town in '23
Felt like things were looking up for me
Got it from this nine to five pay
Job's kind of annoying but can't complain about the check they're cutting me
I'm working remote as a government contractor
But I learned from it that I am a strong actor
Cause I can sound corporate but it doesn't fit well
And I've gotten too comfortable, it doesn't sit well
I'm approaching the phase of adulthood where people abandon their dreams and their deepest desires
Where life gets repetitive, ain't lighting no fire
Quarter-life crisis, it made me inquire
About where I was going, made an album about it (in '24)
The album was good but it should've re-routed
My whole damn brain, I need drastic measures
So I'm getting all my things together and leaving here
It's time to check in
It's good that you recognized your environment wasn't adding to your growth
It's time to check in
Sometimes a change of environment's all you need
It's time to check in
Now you just need to find one that better suits your needs
It's time to check in
Where your spirit calls you is where you should go
Imma move to a new unit but don't know where
Lease need a renewal but I cannot stay there
I was isolated too long
Need to be reachable so I'm moving again
Feel like I need to learn to be human again and comfortable doing it
Lot of shit took me out that element, I'm losing it
I'm thinking moving away's gon' naturally shed the whole lifestyle
That's how I'm viewing it
Still got this contractor job, it's not over
Trump might shut the government down in October
If he does that'll be the kick in the ass needed
To keep me on my toes so that I'll get closer
I'm looking for the moment when I'll have that closure
I'm using all my energy to keep composure
Don't have any clue how the fuck this ends
In '25 I'm searching for a four-leaf clover
Here's to '26
Alright
We made some progress here
Good
Remember this moment
I can only help you get so far
You have to take it further
You know what to do already
I'm just here to remind you that you do
