9:02 - Intellectual

At 8:05 we thought we’d drive to watch the setting sun

Then we had to race the world before the day was done

And through our eyes we watched the sky fall down into dusk

I held you close and we both knew the world slowed down for us

Then half past we were last to see the world turn dark

We went blind and couldn’t find that old familiar spark

You were holding on to hope and I just held your hand

Then half past it was the last time you called me your man

At 9:02 I saw you turn your back on me

You tripped up the stairs and brushed your hair as if I didn’t see

You were a ballerina chasing a dream but the dream was never me

At 9:02 I finally knew how funny life could be

At 3AM here I am, turning in my sheets

I’ll see you in an hour two but only in my dreams

How could I open my eyes and let you out my mind

If I can’t see you anymore I guess that I’d be blind
