[Verse 1]

I've been missing appointments

And birthdays, and sunsets

I've been watching too many movies

That do not pass the Bechdel Test

And that makes me feel like I am a bad feminist

But I pirate them

So that makes it better, I guess

I've been trying to soul search

And write more, and de-stress

I've been clinging to hope like a guard rail

Like a life vest

And I've been asking everyone

"How long do you think the ache will last?"

They don't know yet

[Chorus]

Can something be prescribed to me?

I don't like getting high

But there's a game of Operation in my skull

The bittersweet, the apathy

The back-up plans and stolen dreams

I'm trying to see the genius of it all

[Verse 2]

But I've been losing my balance

My cell phone, and good sleep

I've been googling the best manifestation techniques

And I've been taking quizzes based in pop psychology

And they're always a let down

But I've never been easy to please

[Chorus]

I'm steeping in anxiety

I'm teetering on a tightrope

And I'm waiting for the moment when I'll fall

The bittersweet, the apathy

The back-up plans and stolen dreams

I'm trying to see the genius of it all

I'm trying to see the genius of it all

I'm trying to see the genius of it all

[Outro]

But I've been missing appointments

And birthdays, and sunsets

I've been watching too many movies...
