I used to dream, of life in eternity

Now heaven feels too far from reality

You call me yours, but sin has still stained my soul

Determined heart that still has no control

I hid my life, inside of my heart's desires (hearts desires)

In arrogance I dare look in your eyes

Depended on, my hearts selfish ambition

I hate this conceited man that I've become

Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited

I was given a thorn in my flesh,

A messenger of Satan, to torment me.

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you

For my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses

So that Christ’s power may rest on me.

That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses

In insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties

For when I am weak, then I am strong

Pierce my flesh! Turn my strengths into weaknesses

I mourn and cry out for your promised rest

But when I look up, more than half of the moon is gone

In desperation I cling onto your Son
