Despondent

A forlorn cause

Incapacitated, tied to my thoughts

I'm losing count of my second guesses

Obscure what's real I'll push and suppress

Assimilate

The shadow self

Chemical cruelty I need to compel

A broken soul is worth searching for

The fragments left on the cutting room floor

Bound together for a reason

Finding confidence in my creation

Burn the idols I don't need them

All the hours spent it wasn't good enough?

Drain the water

Dredge the dark

Purge the pain before it rips you apart

They make the rules invite the few

They build the walls and smash them too

One door opens two close on you

They scratch their backs and stab your throat

Parade a trend so they can gloat

A tasteless fad beyond reproach

Your tears drown me a thousand times

I've swam within the dread for far too long

Pulled down to the deeper side of life

Do these people just wait for my swan song?

Apprehension fear misguided

Hesitation weak confided

We dipped our toe with no success

We walked the walk and weren't impressed

Return our roots and reassess

Bound together for a reason

Finding confidence in my creation

Burn the idols I don't need them

All the hours spent it wasn't good enough?

Drain the water

Dredge the dark

Purge the pain before it rips you apart

Apprehension fear misguided

Hesitation weak confided

Your tears drown me a thousand times

I've swam within the dread for far too long

Pulled down to the deeper side of life

Do these people just wait for my swan song?

Despondent

A forlorn cause

Incapacitated tied to my thoughts

I'm losing count of my second guesses

Obscure what's real I'll push and suppress

Assimilate

The shadow self

Chemical cruelty I need to compel

A broken soul is worth searching for

The fragments left on the cutting room floor

Idle time is rot for the mind

Correct this course and stick to the grind

Pandering to the fake and forced elite

Drowning my inner self or kill the art

Sacrifice a bitter price

I'll purge the pain and dredge the dark
