Verse 1:

You see they claimin copywritten but its prolly written already

But just not said

So if u quote it but I wrote it

And they heard it but its just not read

Like whats ur verdict? Can I eat or am I just not fed?

Or am I just fed up

Of overthinking even thinking 'bout my thinking

Wait - see thats another thought process

And yes these rappers still spitting

But we hardly ever listen

Great - you know how much these kids digest

But I digress, Im just coolin

Enough of schooling them

The harder you push, the less you're moving them

So I guess Im moving them with the groove and errm

Errr yea - BARS

This is what we do with ours

This is how we make it real

Give em something that they feel

More than just a sick beat, but the beats still ill

And first, we lace 'em with a verse

Out of this universe

Sort of an insight

To what my lives been like - right?

Chorus :

See I was just a voice in the middle

But bit by bit, little by little

It was bringing me closer (close close)

Bringing us closer (close close close close)

See I was just a voice in the between

The song played along but it seems

Its was bringin us closer (Close close)

Bringin us closer (Close Close Close Close)

Verse 2:

See back in the day I was tryna be a geezer

We would ride moped without the keys a

Silly move - karma came back and to this day they don't deliver pizza

Mistakes or maybe just mischief I

Knew to draw the line cause pops would probably beat us

But my friends dads were hardly ever discussed

So when I stopped, they would not

And it may or it…

May not have even been a reason

Sliding doors - whatever you believe in

Fate, luck, parental guidance or beating

Either way, Im already on my way

A peep through the peephole

If you listen you my people

If you don't, then it won't have a bearing on my ego

Or maybe it will, Im lyin' like a leo - go

Chorus x2:

See I was just a voice in the middle

But bit by bit, little by little

It was bringing me closer (close close)

Bringing us closer (close close close close)

See I was just a voice in the between

The song played along but it seems

Its was bringin us closer (Close close)

Bringin us closer (Close Close Close Close)

These days, we dont really listen to what these rappers are talking about..but subconsciously, the kids still digest it all

I geezer is the british equivalent to the word “dude” – but on top of that, it originates from East London and was more what east end gansters would call themselves – so I was trying to be a bit of a bad boy back in the day

“See I was just a voice in the middle But bit by bit, little by little It was bringing me closer (close close) Bringing us closer (close close close close) See I was just a voice in the between The song played along but it seems Its was bringin us closer (Close close) Bringin us closer (Close Close Close Close)”

This is the real premise of the song – Initially, I start off as just a voice in the middle of a track – in the middle of the beat…but the more and more you listen, you start to know me and we get closer

This is just a quick random philosophical theory I opened with. Slightly long winded but let me explain – Im referring to lyrics people write and copy write as there own.

Sometimes I hear other rappers come up with clever little lines, similes & metaphors that I may have already thought of and written down.

So im saying they claiming copy write – but its written already (by me) but not said (not recorded)
So if they quote it first (on a record) but I wrote it down
and people heard it and havent read my version that I wrote BEFORE, whats your verdict?
Should I eat or am I just not fed?

If you think about whether or not you are overthinking…thats ANOTHER thought

“But I digress, Im just coolin Enough of schooling them The harder you push, the less you’re moving them So I guess Im moving them with the groove and errm Errr yea - BARS”

Regardless of me kicking some knowledge previously in the last lines, I recognise that you cant Force sense into people so Ill move people with my music

“Or am I just fed up Of overthinking”

Here, Im questioning myself with the whole long winded question I opened with – Am I just overthinking everything?

“But my friends dads were hardly ever discussed So when I stopped, they would not And it may or it…. May not have even been a reason Sliding doors - whatever you believe in. Fate, luck, parental guidance or beating Either way, Im already on my way.”

Even though I would draw the line on the mischief in fear of my dad beating me – alot of guys I grew up with didnt ever talk about their dads as they werent around – so when I stopped, they would carry on.

Then, I recognise I cant be sure if it was fate, luck, parental guidance or beating that made me come out different – and if we changed one thing in our lives, would that have been a different outcome – thats what I mean when I say “sliding doors” – that was a film about someones entire life changing from them not catching a train one day.

“Mistakes or maybe just mischief I Knew to draw the line cause pops would probably beat us”

I knew where to draw the line on the mischief growing up as my dad would discipline my arse!

“If you listen you my people If you don’t, then it won’t have a bearing on my ego Or maybe it will, Im lyin’ like a leo”

If you listen then its love.
If you dont – I dont really care.
actually – I do care (im lying like a leo)

I dont mean leos lie – its word play – the sign of the leo is a LION.

Growing up, stealing mopeds and joy riding was what teenagers used to do – mainly ones on the street

However, if the opportunity arose, we would steal the moped from the pizza guy when they came to deliver – for that reason, the pizza company banned certain roads/areas from being delivered to – still to this day.

“A peep through the peephole.”

This song (especially this verse) is a small peep through the peephole into my life
