[Intro]

I can break it down like whatever you want

I can break it down like whatever you want

[Verse 1]

All Glocks down, arriving is the bulletproof lyricist

All rude boy, big up, now hear this

I'm classic like a Coca-Cola, why don't you roll a L

And make it spiffy?

Are the L's twisty? Oh yes, let's get lifty

Long live the rugged female Heather B

So all you gun waving niggas put down your Glocks, please

No need for playing the hard anymore

The bulletproof lyricist is knocking at your door

So open up, let me in, let's get nasty if you wanna

I'll freak dat butt like a film by Heather Hunter

Touch you, cut you, I might just buss you

Buss your shit MC turned pretty

East coast, kid, how I swing

Bounce to Brooklyn

No need to tell you what I partook in

Just know Heather B. is back in town

It's no question, all Glocks down

[Chorus]

Glocks down, hit 'em with that funky sound

I can break it down like whatever you want

Glocks down, hit 'em with that funky sound

I can break it down like whatever you want

Glocks down, hit 'em with that funky sound

I can break it down like whatever you want

Glocks down, hit 'em with that funky sound

I can break it down like whatever you want

[Verse 2]

Walking with my middle finger up, brown Timbs steppin' through

Coming soon to a corner spot near you

It's the sidewalkin' rap talkin'

Hip-hop sister, no need to try me , mister

You got rhymes, go for it, we need no chorus

Freestyles comin' from the door

And who's testin' the untestable? Style's flexible

You gonna have to bounce, twelve rounds

TKO by the third, fuck what you heard

I didn't feel like playing around

'Cause you's part-time with a part rhyme

Committing no crimes and claiming to be hard on the block

So feel my funk, my beat, my vibe

Recognize that I'm live, all live, you know the time

Kid, just raise up, rise up, open your eyes up

Already got you sized up, so wise up, bitch

A L to the neck, a double deuce of Becks

And now my mind's set, I'll be rowdy to the death

Do us part, one love rock crew, right here in heart

Don't even play me, son, you'll get did, done

Turnin' all gats or guns

I'll leave your shorty with her hair undone

And then you know Heather B. is back in town

So no question, all Glocks down

[Verse 3]

I got my peeps to my left side and then my right

Can't wait until tonight when real niggas turn trife

I love the orange light from the Dutch Master tip

My whole crew bent, a half a hunnid gone, spent

Chocolate Thai, true dat, yo, who him?

Who dat snatchin' up da L like a sniper?

Son, you will surely miss the next cipher

If you ever try to hog up the L again

Last one to put in, first son to dig in

Now I hear you riffin' me while I'm countin' your tokes

The Hen-loc burns my throat with no chaser

I'm feelin vibes by my hip from the black pager

Blowin' up for the nine-four or the nine-five

For da nine square, either way, say word-word

Heather B. is in there to the most high

And to the most def no quest', all Glocks down

[Outro]

Glocks down, hit 'em with that funky sound

I can break it down like whatever you want

Glocks down, hit 'em with that funky sound

I can break it down like whatever you want

A dismissive way of saying, “don’t test me (because you won’t win).” In this case, it refers to rap battling which she then refers to metaphorically as a boxing match in the lines that follow.

“I’m feelin vibes by my hip from the black pager Blowin’ up”

Before cell phones, people carried pagers. The term “my pager is blowing up” translates loosely to “I’m popular,” as in “my pager is always buzzing because a lot of people are trying to contact me.”

“All Glocks down, arriving is the bulletproof lyricist”

Guns would serve no purpose because Heather is bulletproof.
She’s also saying she’s a really good lyricist that no one can measure up to

“I’ll leave your shorty with her hair undone”

I’ll beat your girl up so badly she’ll look like she didn’t do her hair.

“I didn’t feel like playing around ’Cause you’s part-time with a part rhyme Committing no crimes and claiming to be hard on the block”

She’s saying she has no time for her competitor because s/he is a fake criminal (and therefore not tough). It’s an interesting turn of a phrase given that the song is about battling with rhymes not guns/violence.

“Gats”

slang for gun. References the Gatling gun

“I love the orange light from the Dutch Master tip”

Another weed reference. In this case, “orange light” refers to the lit end of the blunt. You know it’s a blunt because she calls it a Dutch Master, a cigar brand.

“A double deuce of Becks”

“Double Deuce” refers to a 22oz beer, a popular single-serving size sold in many bodegas in the NYC area

“So all you gun waving niggas put down your Glocks, please”

refers to the Glock 9mm pistol, a popular handgun that was widely used in street crime because it was semi-automatic and easy to conceal.

“I’ll freak dat butt like a film by Heather Hunter”

Heather Hunter was a popular porn star referenced in many raps. She was born in the Bronx and become popular in urban communities because she was one of a handful of non-white porn stars during the the ‘80s and '90s.

“I can break it down like whatever you want I can break it down like whatever you want”

This was sampled from the first line of Buckshot’s second verse on Black Moon’s 1993 single “How Many MC’s”:

“Brown Timbs”

Refers to Timberland boots, most likely the classic 6" style

“All rude boy, big up, now hear this”

Rude boy is Jamaican slang for thug/gangster. Big up means to give props. She’s showing respect to real gangsters. This sets up the theme of the song which fundamentally questions the heart of people who use guns to kill and/or people who claim to be from the ‘hood but aren’t truly tough. In other words, if you’re truly tough you don’t need to use a gun because you can battle with your hands or your words. Even so, if you try to battle Heather with raps, you’re going to lose because she’s a superior lyricist.

“Buss your shit MC turned pretty”

“Bust your shit” is slang for falling down but in this case the term has a double meaning. It also means busting your ass which is slang for getting fucked in the butt. In short, she’s calling her competitor gay (pretty); in other words, soft.

“Roll a L”

×

refers to rolling (twisting) a marijuana cigarette; in most cases, a blunt (weed rolled in a cigar wrapper).

“And make it spiffy? Are the L’s twisty? Oh yes, let’s get lifty”

Spliff – Jamaican slang for a cannabis cigarette. Spliff gets you high, lift(y). The ideas and word parts in these lines are a beautiful jumble of reiteration .

“Chocolate Thai, true dat, yo, who him? Who dat snatchin’ up da L like a sniper? Son, you will surely miss the next cipher If you ever try to hog up the L again Last one to put in, first son to dig in Now I hear you riffin’ me while I’m countin’ your tokes”

She’s clowning someone for being a weed hog. Chocolate Thai is a strain of marijuana. As it goes, said person took the blunt out of turn “snatchin up da L like a sniper.” Therefore s/he will not be invited back to the cipher if s/he keeps hogging the weed. “last one to put in first son to dig in” is a clever way to say the person is cheap. The last person to contribute money to buy the weed but the first person to want to smoke it. The next line “now I hear you riffin' me while I’m countin your tokes” is another way of saying the person is fake because s/he does not understand how a cipher works. The proper way to smoke weed in a group is to “take 2 and pass” (take 2 pulls and pass the joint to the next person) (/Gang-starr-take-two-and-pass-lyrics). She’s listening to the person complain while they also take more than 2 hits before passing the blunt. In short, she’s saying the person is fake because s/he doesn’t understand street etiquette.
