Thinking that he has no chance of getting into heaven he may as well live his life how he wants. By he I mean 2-D, I’m don’t think it’s Damon singing through him.
In order to cope with his romantic situation, he uses drugs, therefore basically slowly committing suicide. This could have inspired the line from 5/4,
“She made me kill myself”
The lyrics here talk about a supposed man and woman, maybe even the two fictional characters, 2-D and Paula Cracker. The two seem to be growing distant in this story, as there isn’t really any love between them (anymore). This is heavily evidenced by “she was not concerned about me leaving'” and “here they come to steal my soul”.
The woman also seems to be trying to hold up the relationship however, pretending to be close to her lover, evidenced by “trying to be near my heart” and “trying not to feel like leaving'”, which are signs of being in a “broken relationship.
