Lost in translation

In transmutation, your effigy is born

Under the guise of forgiveness, you turn your cheek to a world you've torn

And in retribution, your act of saving grace

Do you truly feel repentance, or is this your act of saving face?

She stretches past the point of no return

Like polyester laying flat upon my stomach

How she clings across my skin

I wear her loose around me like a veil of good intentions

Knowing well her touch would likely kill me in the end

Driving nails into my hands

And what I'm trying to reach is something you would never preach

Your arrogance and my resentment coincide

But it's every man for himself, yearning for fratricide

Your stubbornness will kill us all

But you'll rise to deliverance, while we fall

Bleeding out, only to be fed by your mouth

The things that bleed from me

Unborn effigy

Every shout at the sky for assurance was only met with you resting

So I regurgitated everything holy, because I couldn't digest my blessings
