This is so true, like our whole relationship was like a huge ass illusion. Mind tricks. One day we would be happy and then another arguing over miscommunication/ pettiness, just a whole bunch of stuff.

When I think of the word “illusion”, I think of how the eye gets deceived. So anaolxgically, I tied it in with our relationship because we were always on and off therefore it was always deceiving.

The “Monster” in this line is temptation being personified. I was always temptation to find that other special someone or go out and not even think about her in the back on my mind.
